The series ‘Yellowstone’ kept the audience engaged with its gripping tale, stellar performance, and plot twists. With every season it took the excitement level of the fans to another horizon, and now that after 5 successful seasons it has galloped off into the sunset, it is still making news. Of course, there are going to be spin-offs and other series from the ranch drama, where many beloved stars and characters will be reprising their roles, one actor who has existed in the ‘Yellowstone’ universe for good is Kevin Costner aka John Dutton III.
Though he was the driving force of the original series and had a happy creative marriage with Taylor Sheridan, it is most likely that he would not put a step again on the ranch. Taylor and Kevin couldn’t work out how the latter would be able to shoot his Western movie epic ‘Horizon: An American Saga’ without compromising with his ‘Yellowstone’ schedule. Reportedly, despite trying to find a harmonious way where both projects could be given due time and attention, it became a ‘this or that’ situation. Thus, it resulted in Costner leaving the show, and therefore Sheridan had to show Dutton’s death in the series.
Initially, the demise of Dutton was ruled out as suicide, and reflecting on the same Kevin Costner told a radio host Michael Smerconish that he has no interest in watching it. “I heard it’s a suicide… So that doesn’t make me want to rush to go see it,” said Kevin.
Later when again asked about the ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5 finale, Kevi had a brutal reply. His tone didn’t soften down when according to the Daily Mail he said, “I’m not thinking about [the finale],” said Costner. “I don’t think I’ve given it any thought, we’ll just let it go.”
Many believe that this is Kevin’s way of showing he is upset, but he doesn’t want anyone to make a big deal out of it.
Meanwhile, the ‘Yellowstone’ universe is garnering love and attention from all around the world. As aforementioned, there are different spinoffs in work for the audience who don’t want to let go this early. The prequel series ‘1923,’ will return for its second and final season in February 2025, while spinoffs ‘1944,’ ‘The Madison’ and an untitled saga along with ‘6666’ are making news.
