Australia secured their spot in the World Test Championship Final by defeating India in the fifth and final Border-Gavaskar Test. The final will be held at Lord’s in June.

Sri Lanka, who will host Australia in a two-Test series in Galle starting in late January, are no longer in contention for the final.
India, who had fate in their own hands a couple of months ago, also ran out of contention.
Australia secured their spot in the final on the third day of the New Year’s Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground. They successfully chased a fourth-innings target of 162 with six wickets remaining. Usman Khawaja’s 41 runs were crucial for Australia on a challenging pitch. Travis Head and Beau Webster also contributed to Australia’s successful run chase.
The victory gave Australia 63.73% of possible points, ensuring their qualification. India finished the World Test Championship cycle with 50.00% of possible points, missing out on the final.
