In a thrilling NCAA women’s volleyball semifinals at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky, the Nebraska volleyball team faced a defeat against the Penn State Nittany Lions. Ex-Husker Caroline Jurevicius along with Jess Mruzik led Penn State to a five-set win in the Final Four. But who is Caroline Jurevicius? Turns out the athlete has a major connection to the world of the NFL and is the daughter of Joe Jurevicius, a Super Bowl-winning NFL veteran.
Caroline Jurevicius Just Won a Big Match in The Final Four; Here Are Some Details About The Breakout Star
Caroline arrived at Penn State as a redshirt transfer. At Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School, she led her team to the Ohio DII state championship. In 2023, she signed up with Nebraska and was part of a historic milestone when the team played in Memorial Stadium before a sold-out crowd of 92,003, which was the biggest crowd ever for a women’s sporting event in the US.
Caroline’s dad is Penn State alumni and NFL veteran, Joe Jurevicius who was a receiver with the Nittany Lions before being drafted with the New York Giants in 1998. In 2003, he signed up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent, where he went on to win a Super Bowl. Before retiring he played for the Cleveland Browns and for the last few years he has been spending his time with his family and has been caught watching his daughter’s matches.
In fact, a year ago, Joe took to Instagram to share a proud post for his daughter. “If you knew the work that was put into this and understand the opportunity to represent the 🌽’s… you’d be as proud of Caroline as I am. She met so many amazing coaches & universities & for that I’m thankful. With that being said it’s now time to “WORK HARDER” & do whatever is needed to help Nebraska win.… Learn & Work and most importantly ENJOY the opportunity to REPRESENT. I love you.. GO HUSKERS…. and now to my youngest Ava… YOUR TURN,” he wrote on Instagram.
The 2024 College Football Playoff is unlike any postseason that has happened before. For the first time ever, teams will host first-round playoff games at their home stadiums. Moreover, the expanded 12-team playoff also means the postseason will have eight extra games.
In the last game, Penn State held off a late Nebraska push and snagged a win. This marks Penn State’s 14th NCAA championship match appearance and their first since 2017. They’ll face Louisville on December 22.
