Production issues with 'Danmachi' season 5 could delay 'One Punch Man' season 3

With the declaration of ‘One Punch Man’ season 3 release date to happen in 2025, anime fans have been eagerly waiting for the popular series. However, things may not go as smooth as everybody would want it to when production issues relating to ‘Danmachi’ season 5 could be the reason why ‘One Punch Man’ season 3 will not reach its scheduled date of release.
Both ‘Danmachi’ and ‘One Punch Man’ are animated by J.C. Staff, a studio known for its good quality but under pressure to produce high-quality productions for their huge and dedicated fanbase. However, J.C. Staff recently announced that it would take a three-month break before airing the final episodes of ‘Danmachi’ season 5, which may complicate the studio’s timeline for ‘One Punch Man’ season 3.
At first, season 5 of ‘Danmachi’ was declared to have 15 episodes-a very unusual number of episodes for a season. Thus, everyone is eagerly looking forward to that, expecting it might be enough as J.C. Staff may just push it more than its typical limits. Hopes have already been seen about having more episodes of ‘One Punch Man’ season 3 since it will just follow that same pattern. The previous seasons of ‘One Punch Man’ had 12 episodes each, and fans were expecting the same from season 3, which would cut the source material short or end the season on an odd note.
But, on the other hand, ‘Danmachi’s’ long season and the delay of its final episodes scheduled for Spring 2025 have been a concern. Its final anime episodes with Goddess of Fertility Arc, which was initially scheduled in January 2025, got delayed due to production issues. This had many fans concerned that ‘One Punch Man’ season 3 will be hit with the same problem.
Chikashi Kubota, character designer of ‘One Punch Man’, hinted at the existence of production problems with the show’s season 3 but would not reveal what they were. It might be that J.C. Staff is having its problems with ‘Danmachi’, and thus, will carry over those issues into ‘One Punch Man’ or delay the season’s release entirely.
So far, fans can only hope that J.C. Staff manages to resolve these production issues in time to meet the 2025 release for ‘One Punch Man’ season 3.
