But there is more to the show than just two matches – global pop stars Beyonce and Mariah Carey are supposed to be performing at the matches, bringing a whole new set of audience along with them. Both Beyonce and Mariah Carey have performed at the NFL before and there is a lot of speculation around this topic.
Even though the NFL does not directly play artists, but this time, there are speculations around Beyonce and Mariah Carey getting paid through the streaming giant Netflix, who will be exclusively streaming the two matches today and have paid $150 million for this exclusive right.
Beyonce’s Multi Million Dollar Deal With Netflix
Beyonce performed at the NFL Super Bowl twice in 2013 and 2016. As per reports, no artist gets paid to be performing at the Super Bowl as around millions of people across the country tune into watch the NFL. The NFL has made statements before where they have spoken how they would cover the cost of the artist’s lodging, set up and fees for their crew which includes musicians and dancers.
As per Variety, back in 2019 Beyonce signed a three project deal with the streaming giant for a whopping $60 million and this included her film “Homecoming: A Film By Beyonce” for which she received $20 million. As per reports, NFL paid $600,000 to Beyonce to cover her costs for performing at the 2013 Super Bowl. There are also speculations around the $60 million deal also includes this performance at the NFL today. According to Dan Ruchie of AndScape “If we believe this to be true, then that’s $20M specifically for this performance.”
Mariah Carey’s History At The Super Bowl
Mariah Carey has performed at the NFL Super Bowl decades ago back in 2002. Even though Mariah has not been spotted since then at the National Football League’s Super Bowl, she has continuously expressed her interest to perform again at the Super Bowl. Her presence at the NFL today will be full of nostalgia since as per reports, she will be opening with her very famous song “All I want for Christmas is you.”
This song of hers continues to make millions for her every year since as per Billboard, she earned a whopping $1.36 million just in 2021 through this song.

It is not just the fans of the NFL who are excited to watch the two legendary pop stars perform at the NFL Christmas games today. Players also have expressed their interest in it. Lamar Jackson, the quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens has spoken about how he will be sneaking out of the locker room during half time today and will be watching Beyonce performing. He spoke about how this will be the first time he will be watching Beyonce perform live and there is no way he is going to miss it.
