The Los Angeles Rams are preparing for a do-or-die Wild Card match against the Minnesota Vikings, but not everyone is ready for it. Kelly Stafford, wife of the Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, recently took the NFL to task over what she considers an “unfair” and “annoying” schedule. Her incendiary remarks have sparked debate among fans regarding whether the league is stacking the deck against the Rams.
“It Really Pisses Me Off”: Kelly’s Podcast Bombshell
During her latest edition of The Morning After, Kelly didn’t mince words about how frustrated she feels.“The fact that it’s on Monday really pisses me off. I mean, also, that gives us less time for the next game, which I don’t think that’s fair. I hate waiting, and now we have to wait for the last game, yeah, which is annoying.”
Her frank comments are part of her own history of publicly calling out Monday Night Football, to which she once referred as “the worst”.
Kelly’s complaint is not only about waiting time, but about being at a competitive disadvantage. Being forced to play the last game of the Wild Card round puts the Rams at a disadvantage in recovery time going into the Divisional Round, if they advance.
Family Drama Meets Playoff Pressure
Adding to the chaos, Kelly reported that the household has been dealing with the flu, which made Matthew’s preparation for the playoffs even more difficult. “Normally we would not leave because I do feel like we take his mind off of football, which you also need when you’re preparing for this kind of stuff. You know, you need your space to just get away from it. But considering what we’re all going through, um, we might just have to leave, which he was not happy with that suggestion when I said it today. He was like, ‘Let’s just wait and see, you know. I’ll probably sleep in a different bedroom,’ but normally it is a pretty normal work week,” Kelly further added.
Is the NFL Playing Favorites?
Kelly’s comments raise a larger question: Is the NFL’s scheduling designed to disadvantage certain teams? The Rams, who are already facing a tough matchup against Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold, now have less recovery time if they progress. Conspiracy theories are swirling, with some fans speculating that big-market teams like the Rams are being set up to fail.
What’s Next?
Whether Kelly’s words ring true or not, one thing is clear: the stakes have never been higher. The Rams are getting ready to take on the Vikings in the bright lights of Monday Night Football, and fans are left wondering whether the schedule will be another obstacle or a rallying cry for the team.
