They were stranded because of an unrelenting snowstorm, which has caused them major delays. Not only did they suffer a humiliating defeat, but they also cannot even get back home to Kansas City due to the horrible weather conditions. And to make matters worse, the return flight of the team has been indefinitely delayed according to Tavia Hunt, none other than the Chiefs’ first lady.

Tavia, married to the owner of the Chiefs Clark Hunt, was quite candid on social media. She posted the fact that the team would not be returning to Kansas City that night. She reposted from podcaster Farzin Vousoughian, confirming the delay, but with the snowstorm taken over Kansas City, she didn’t hold anything back, posting a simple caption of “UGH” and just a bunch of snow and airplanes. We hear you, Tavia — no doubt the gods of weather just aren’t getting along with your schedule today.

According to ESPN’s Adam Teicher, the Chiefs were hoping to return the following morning. But with Kansas City International Airport closed due to dangerous ice and heavy snow, it looks like their travel plans will be stuck in a deep freeze for a little longer.
Resting Key Players Backfires
Now, let’s talk about that game. Coach Andy Reid‘s plan was to rest Mahomes, Kelce, and some of the stars on defense in order to come into the playoffs with them fresh. That didn’t exactly work as planned. In fact, the opposite happened in a big way. The Broncos, who had no choice but to play for all the marbles, came at the Chiefs guns blazing and made it a beating. The 38-0 final score was a stinger — big time. The Chiefs, who had already clinched the AFC’s No. 1 playoff seed after their Christmas Day victory over the Steelers, had little left to play for in terms of seeding. Still, no one expected such a humbling result.
The Chiefs’ Playoff Hopes: Still Alive, But a Little Bumpy
Despite this embarrassing loss, the Chiefs are still eyeing the postseason. As much as fans may be shaking their heads at the performance, the Chiefs know there’s no time to wallow in disappointment. The real test will come when they finally hit the playoff field, aiming to make it to their third consecutive Super Bowl.
For now, they will have to ride out the snowstorm in Denver, hoping that by the time they return home, the weather will be more forgiving. One thing is for sure: the Chiefs’ journey to the Super Bowl is far from over. They have some work to do, but they will be back, stronger, better, and hopefully with fewer weather delays!
