Kanpur to Lucknow in just 45 minutes; thanks to the upcoming 8-lane expressway

The Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway is all set to open this year. The road is a game changer and can revolutionise travel between Lucknow and Kanpur. This new 8-lane expressway will reduce the travel time between the two cities from three hours to just 35-45 minutes.

1) The expressway, spanning 63 km, will connect Shaheed Path in Lucknow to Nawabganj in Kanpur. The road will pass through prime regions such as Banthra, Bani, Datouli Kantha, Taura, Nyaurana, Amarsas, and Rawal Marg.
2) The road will connect with the Lucknow Ring Road, offering a perfect connection between multiple regional routes and facilitating smoother intercity travel.
3) Though it was planned as a six-lane expressway, the project later got an upgrade and it transformed into eight lanes to accommodate future traffic growth. The estimated cost of the project is INR 4,700 crore. It only tells about the importance of the road as a significant infrastructure initiative for the region.
4) Some of the prime features of the expressway are: Three large bridges which will enhance accessibility, second is 28 smaller bridges and lastly, 38 underpasses. Together these ensure uninterrupted travel. There will be six flyovers which are designed to minimise traffic congestion and ensure smooth commutes.
5) Construction on the expressway is progressing rapidly. Over half of the work has already been completed, including the greenfield section and 75% of the elevated road. While the original completion date was set for July 2025, the project is now expected to be ready by March 2025, demonstrating the urgency and commitment to accelerating this transformative infrastructure development.

6) The road will be counted as a game changer as it is going to reduce the travel time between Kanpur and Lucknow to 35-45 minutes only!
