The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles are warming up for the second Super Bowl in three years with minimal rancor. “Bad Blood” from Taylor Swift’s 1989 album may make it to the halftime show, and Kendrick Lamar has been announced as the headliner with SZA as a special guest. Lamar, who won five Grammys for his diss track “Not Like Us,” is set to perform.
Some fans are eagerly awaiting the collaboration between Lamar and Swift, whom they have been close to for more than a decade. However, during Super Bowl opening night, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes dispelled these rumors, saying that Swift will not be performing at Caesars Superdome.
Patrick Mahomes on why Taylor Swift should sit out the big game
The major 2025 TV event will be Super Bowl LIX, with the Philadelphia Eagles against the Kansas City Chiefs. Fans will be able to enjoy a halftime show headlined by Kendrick Lamar, but Taylor Swift, who is a Chiefs fan, will not perform. Patrick Mahomes predicts that the event will be entertaining, especially with Lamar’s electric performance and Swift’s support for the Chiefs.
Taylor Swift is a very entertaining pop star with the voice, stage presence, and song catalog to headline a Super Bowl halftime show. But Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes thinks it would be perfect for her to sit out the game. Mahomes spoke to the media during SB Opening Night at New Orleans’ Superdome, sharing his humorous take.
“Everyone wants to see a Taylor Swift halftime show, can you help us make that happen?” One reporter asked Mahomes. “As long as Trav’s playing and we’re in the Super Bowl, it’s going to be hard for her to do the halftime show,” Mahomes said. “So hopefully Trav keeps playing and we keep making it to the Super Bowl.”
Swift has become a regular at games, cheering on her boyfriend Travis Kelce from a luxurious suite while wearing a Chiefs jacket. Ideally, she wants to stay a spectator to focus on her energy, as Kelce would miss the performance due to his teammates in the locker room during halftime.
Patrick Mahomes can be funny about what Taylor Swift is doing at the Super Bowl, but fans have to know that Kendrick Lamar does appear on a track for a remixed version of Swift’s 2015 single “Bad Blood.” The idea of a potential team-up at the Super Bowl is intriguing, but the chances of it happening are probably slim.

Super Bowl LIX is set for an exciting game and an excellent halftime show. Taylor Swift is expected to sit out, but there’s a chance she could surprise fans and reunite with K-Dot for a quick performance. Tune in on February 9 at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT on Fox.
