“It hurts to lose”: Giants head coach Brian Daboll’s response after Sunday's loss to the Falcons that marked 10 straight defeats for the team

The New York Giants were defeated by the Atlanta Falcons yet again, and now their season record stands at a miserable 2-13. This is by the way the 10th straight loss of the team under Brian Daboll, as they continue to coast toward the nails of a very long and historically disappointing season. Critique aside from Sunday’s dismal display, Daboll made clear that he did not care at all that the Giants were suffering through another long double-digit losing streak. That was not good enough.

Brian Daboll offered a frank response after the Giants’ 10th consecutive loss

Brian Daboll seemed very glum at the press conference after the 10th consecutive defeat of the New York Giants by the Atlanta Falcons. Beat reporters like ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reported that Daboll repeatedly repeated a phrase at the podium. “It’s not good enough,” Daboll said. “Again, that’s my responsibility. You do everything you can do each week. Obviously not good enough. Of course, after every game hurts. It hurts to lose. You put a lot into it. We have two more to finish off and have to put everything into it.”

Daboll acknowledged the Giants’ poor performance and the difficulty of winning when turnovers are high, but confirmed that he did not consider replacing quarterback Drew Lock for Tommy DeVito during the game. “[Wanted to] let Drew [Lock] battle through it [and] see if we could make some improvements,” he explained, when asked why he didn’t consider a QB change. “But… at the end of the day, it’s hard to win a game when you turn the ball over three times.”
Lock had a poor passer rating of 58.7, with a 56.4 completion percentage, 210 passing yards, and 1 touchdown, but was sacked three times and threw two interceptions for touchdowns. “It’s simple things — relative to turnovers and things like that,” Daboll noted. “If you have those things [happen] in games, it’s hard to win.” He included needless penalties and unforced errors in that conversation too.
The Giants’ youthful roster has shown some fight in recent weeks, despite their recent struggles, as evidenced by their performance against the Falcons. “Look, the guys have a lot of pride,” Daboll told reporters after the loss, when asked what he says to players when the team keeps losing. He later referred to them as “competitors” due to his daily presence around them.

Daboll took responsibility for the team’s performance during the press conference, but the answers were not clear, and fans became frustrated as they hear repetitive no-substance responses. The Giants have yet to state that they are moving on from Daboll, but everything seems to be trending that way as the season trickles to a close.
