Chiefs activate Brown: What this means for their playoff hopes

On Thursday morning, several reports revealed that Kansas City was set to activate Brown, contingent on his strong performance in practice. Brown seized the moment and delivered, earning himself a spot on the roster, filling the void left by Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who joined the New Orleans Saints earlier this week. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid expressed unwavering confidence in Brown’s impressive showing during the drills, signaling a bright future ahead for the talented player.
“He’s done a nice job. I mentioned earlier just about (how) it’s not – it wasn’t his legs, so he’s been able to run and keep himself in running shape. The rest of it where the surgery wasn’t at, he looked good and was doing fine, yeah,” Reid told reporters ahead of the Week 16 match-up against the Texans.”
The Kansas City Chiefs have strengthened their offense by signing free agent Brown, who posted 51 catches for 574 yards and three touchdowns with the Arizona Cardinals last season. In 2021 with the Ravens, he had a standout year with 91 catches, 1,008 yards, and six touchdowns.
Brown joins a dynamic receiving corps, featuring DeAndre Hopkins, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Xavier Worthy, and Justin Watson. His addition is crucial after top receiver Rashee Rice was ruled out for the season with a knee injury.
With Patrick Mahomes recovering from an ankle sprain, Brown’s return provides a much-needed boost as the Chiefs prepare for a tough three-game stretch, giving Mahomes a reliable target in key moments.
