With Spring Training almost around the corner, Alex Bregman has been reported to be in contract discussions with the Boston Red Sox. However, Cubs pitcher Ryan Pressly recently revealed wanting Bregman to come to “Chicago.” In addition, Pressly was also seen launching praises for Bregman.
Ryan Pressly revealed interest in wanting Alex Bregman to Cubs
Ryan Pressly sat in an exclusive interview with “USA TODAY” on Friday, during which he talked about his interest in wanting Alex Bregman to sign with the Chicago Cubs. Before talking about wanting to “play with him,” Pressly launched praises for Bregman’s athletic abilities and said:
“Having him come to Chicago would be an amazing thing for us. However, I don’t know exactly what’s going on in his camp. Me, personally, I would love to play with him again just because he’s a solid dude and a great teammate.”
“He’s one of those guys you have in the clubhouse, man, all he wants to do is win. He doesn’t care where he’s at. That’s the one thing I love about him. He was the heartbeat of that clubhouse in Houston,” Pressly further added.
However, Alex Bregman might not end up signing with the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox have currently offered him a 4-year contract, however, Bregman holds multiple 6-years offers from other teams. Therefore, according to a recent report from MLB insider Ryan Finkelstein, the Red Sox might end up signing Randal Grichuk.
“Grichuk thrived in the (platoon) role, crushing lefties to the tune of a .319/.386/.528 slash line, with a 151 wRC+ across 184 plate appearances. Grichuk would be the perfect partner for Masataka Yoshida and the Boston Red Sox. It’s not a move that would get fans excited compared to a potential Alex Bregman signing, but it would be adding a much-needed right-handed bat into the fold.”
Apart from the Red Sox, there also have been signing rumors around the Toronto Blue Jays, who have offered Alex Bregman a $156 Million deal. However, an MLB insider recently revealed that Bregman would first evaluate his “priorities” before considering the Blue Jays offer. Do you think Bregman should join the Red Sox or the Blue Jays?
