Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty, and Aditya Srivastava reflected on their experiences, providing details about their years of commitment to the program and their great connection. During the chat with Pinkvilla, the cast recalled their bond with late actor Dinesh Phadnis aka everyone’s favourite Freddy.
When asked about missing Freddy, Shivaji Satam said, ‘Of course we miss him every day.’ Dayanand Shetty then added, “He was our senior, Satam sir has been since the show’s inception, sir has been since its pilot shoot and then Dinesh joined the show. I joined after him.”
Shivaji Satam shared, “He was a part of our family. Humare ghar ka sadsya tha. We keep missing him every day whenever we are in the makeup room. And they are all fond memories.” Daya shared, “He was funny in real life as well. His one-liners were amazing. We used to have fun banters so that he makes us laugh. We miss him a lot.”
Further, Daya was asked whether there would be any love angle for him in the second season. To which the Singham actor quipped, ‘I have become old now.’ He then added, ‘We would definitely work something on it. We are trying to balance sir’s love track as well. We are trying to incorporate a balance between crime, love, entertainment and everything.’
Earlier, even in a podcast, both Daya and Aditya Srivastava recalled fond memories with Dinesh Phadnis, they shared, “We used to have a big vanity which was divided between Daya, Shivaji and Me. Phadnis and I used to share the same vanity (he is not around us anymore) and the doors would be open. So it would turn into one big room and six people sharing the same food and the same joy together.”
Dinesh Phadnis, who played Inspector Fredericks in CID, passed away on December 5, 2023, at the age of 57. He was admitted following a heart attack and died from multiple organ failure.
CID finished its impressive 20-year run on Sony TV on October 27, 2018, making it one of India’s longest-running television shows.
