Beyoncé shared a 30-second teaser for her upcoming performance of the NFL Halftime Show. The show will premiere during the Christmas Day NFL doubleheader on Netflix. In the Netflix buffering joke, the 43-year-old superstar plays a banjo on a football field wearing a sparkly top, hat, and sunglasses. She stops playing, pulling down her sunglasses in such a way that it causes the camera to zoom into her face. It’s a reference to the stream’s glitches of Netflix’s Mike Tyson-Jake Paul boxing match. Beyoncé laughs as the video plays on and closes with a wink at the camera.
Beyoncé jokes about Netflix glitch
Beyoncé, ignoring all the fears of BeyHive that Netflix will be glitching during her Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans Halftime Show performance, jokingly posted a video of herself playing the banjo to “Texas Hold ‘Em” on a football field. The Netflix buffer signal played across her face, and the singer’s chuckling was heard. Beyoncé then smiled and grinned at the camera, despite the concerns.
Prior to the half-time performance, Grammy Award winner shared a teaser where she is spoofing a Netflix glitch that upset fans as it occurred live during a fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. In the teaser, she’s playing the banjo for her hit single “Texas Hold ‘Em.” Right before she stops to remove her sunglasses, the Netflix infamous buffer signal crosses across her face, but Beyoncé is heard playfully chuckling and the video continues, with Beyoncé winking at the camera with a smile.
In a previous advert, Beyoncé walked through snow, pointing her gloved fingers like a gun, at a Christmas-themed cactus before blowing them. Beyoncé’s mum, Tina Knowles said to Netflix that she told them glitches would not appear in her performance, yet some thought it could just be a similarity to the November streamed Jake Paul v Mike Tyson fight.
Netflix said it experienced technical issues in a post-match statement after the Paul vs. Tyson bout, which peaked at 65 million households and 38 million concurrent streams. “This unprecedented scale created many technical challenges, which the launch team tackled brilliantly by prioritizing stability of the stream for the majority of viewers,” Netflix CTO Elizabeth Stone wrote in an internal email to employees, per Bloomberg.
He further added, “I’m sure many of you have seen the chatter in the press and on social media about the quality issues. We don’t want to dismiss the poor experience of some members, and know we have room for improvement, but still consider this event a huge success.”
