‘Pushpa’ star Allu Arjun’s bail hearing in connection to the stampede incident at the Sandhya Theatre is set for January 3, 2025, at the Nampally court in Hyderabad. This hearing follows a chaotic event during the premiere of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’on December 4, where a massive crowd gathered to see the actor, leading to a stampede that resulted in the death of 35-year-old Revathi and serious injuries to her eight-year-old son.
Arjun was arrested on December 13 and granted interim bail the same day by the Telangana High Court, which allowed him four weeks of temporary release. He faces charges alongside his security team and the theatre management under various sections of Indian law based on a complaint from Revathi’s family
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has called for an inquiry into the incident, particularly focusing on allegations that police used excessive force during the event. The complainant has accused police officers of resorting to a lathi charge that contributed to the chaos and subsequent injuries.
The incident has raised significant concerns regarding crowd management and safety at film events. Following the stampede, Bhaskar, the father of the injured child, expressed gratitude towards Allu Arjun and the Telangana government for their support, noting that his son had begun to respond after weeks of critical care. Additionally, Allu Aravind, Arjun’s father and a prominent film producer, announced financial assistance of Rs 2 crores for the injured child and his family.
