Aaron Rodgers provided a blunt answer stating that he has not spoken to Jets owner Woody Johnson about his future with the team

The New York Jets are set to end a disappointing 2024 season with just two games left, and the extent of change, particularly at the quarterback position, remains uncertain. The Jets are seeking a new head coach and general manager after firing Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas. With a 4-11 record, it’s uncertain if Aaron Rodgers will be the preferred quarterback for the new season and beyond, as the Jets’ offense continues to struggle.

Aaron Rodgers has not yet spoken to Woody Johnson about his future after a terrible 2024 season

Aaron Rodgers has expressed his understanding of the business side and may not play for the Jets next season. However, when asked about his future with the franchise, Rodgers provided a straightforward answer, stating that he has not spoken to owner Woody Johnson.

The public firestorm in New York this season has led to speculation about the team’s future. However, it is possible that Johnson may be asked by Rodgers if he wants him back under center in 2025, given his involvement in the franchise’s decision-making process.
Rodgers has not yet spoken to New York Jets owner Woody Johnson about his future with the AFC East franchise after a terrible 2024 season. Rodgers struggled after returning from an Achilles injury, and the Jets fell to 4-11, far from preseason predictions of a Super Bowl appearance. 2024 has been a colossal failure of a campaign – and Rodgers has played a key role. His performances have been subpar; he has thrown for 3,511 yards and 24 touchdowns with 8 interceptions, compiling a career-low 90.8 rating.
Rodgers’ poor performances, age, and a new New York regime change are causing speculation that he may leave the Jets in the offseason. When asked if owner Johnson wants him back, he said, “You should ask Woody.” Rodgers has not discussed Johnson’s future with the franchise, and he would be surprised if such a discussion occurs, acknowledging the process may take time.
He explained, “[There are] so many uncertainties. There’s a GM that has to get hired, I would assume first, and then he’s going to be a part of hiring the head coach. And then so I have to be in the plans of multiple people, starting with the ownership and then the GM and then the head coach. So that’s why to me, that would not be a conversation I’m expecting anytime soon until those things are in place.”
