Sonu Sood recently expressed concern over actors who continue performing even off-camera. From starring in romantic roles in Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi to playing villains in films like Arundhati, he has explored diverse roles.
In a recent conversation with Jist, Sonu lightly teased his fellow actors, mentioning that they might not appreciate his comments. He shared his belief that some actors are more convincing off-camera than on-screen, calling it unfortunate. He emphasized that acting should end when the camera is off, but many of his colleagues struggle to do so.
The actor also shared an example from a recent experience, explaining how he prefers to interact with the public without heavy security. While attending an event in Kolkata, he chose to visit public places and travel using public transport, much to the concern of his bodyguards. However, he felt no need for protection and enjoyed connecting with people, who also appreciated the experience.
The actor further pointed out that many of his colleagues hire bodyguards not for safety, but to attract attention. He shared an incident where he spoke to a bodyguard at the airport who admitted that they were instructed to create drama. The actor believes some stars rely on such theatrics because they fear going unnoticed without the added spectacle.
He stated that many celebrity bodyguards are trained to cause a commotion. He added that if the actor walked without security, only a few fans would ask for photos, without any further disruptions.
Sonu shared an amusing incident from his gym where an actor, whom he chose not to name, created a scene just to enter. He recalled how the actor’s bodyguard made gestures as if there was a crowd, even though no one was around. Sonu joked that it was all just acting off-camera.
