Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson is reportedly suffering a torn ACL. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the wide receiver Christian Watson is believed to have torn his ACL and may have damaged other parts of his right knee, ending his season. This injury can also potentially affect his availability for the start of the 2025 season. Watson sustained the injury while running a route in Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears where he tried to make a cut, fell to the ground, and clutched his knee. He was carried to the locker room and did not return for the rest of the game.

Packers WR Christian Watson Diagnosed With Torn ACL And Additional Knee Injury

Watson had 29 catches for 620 yards and two touchdowns in 15 starts this season. He has 98 receptions for 1,653 yards and 14 touchdowns in 38 career games since being selected in the 2022 draft.

Watson has endured several ailments during his three seasons. In 2023, he only appeared in nine games throughout the season due to an acute hamstring issue and in 2024, he was grappling with a knee issue. He was visibly struggling during the Packers’ Week 16 win over the Saints and had to miss Green Bay’s Week 17 loss to Minnesota. He returned for Sunday’s game against Chicago and played 10 snaps before he suffered the knee injury.

After the game, the Packers coach Matt LaFleur indicated that Watson’s status for the postseason was not good. “I’m not super confident about that right now,” LaFleur said on Sunday after the match.
The recovery timeline from a torn ACL is generally around six to nine months but athletes may need some additional time for their recovery process before returning to the field. For example, Ravens running back Keaton Mitchell tore his ACL later in the season. After sustaining the tear in Week 15 last year, he was not activated again until Week 10 this season.
