In the 1990s, Govinda was one of the busiest and most popular actors in Bollywood, signing 75 films and often working on four projects in a single day. During this period, he hardly spent time at home, as he was constantly on shoots. Sunita Ahuja, Govinda’s wife, recently opened up about those years and how she coped with his demanding work schedule while raising their daughter, Tina.

Which Govinda Movie Do You Think is the Most Iconic?
Speaking to Hindi Rush, Sunita recalled, “We wouldn’t even get to see him. He would just come home and sleep for a few hours. By that time, Tina was born, so I was completely busy with her and my mother-in-law. It wouldn’t affect me as much.” She added that Govinda’s outdoor shoots in places like Shimla and Kashmir kept him away, but she didn’t mind because she was focused on her child. “Sometimes we would also accompany him for those shoots to Madras and Hyderabad. Whatever time we would find after pack-up, that was it.”
Sunita shared fond memories of the outdoor shoots, where she would spend time with co-stars like Shilpa Shetty, Raveena Tandon, and Manisha Koirala. “We would all chill, eat together after the shoot,” she recalled. She also fondly recalled Raveena’s playful remark: “Raveena still says, ‘Chichi, if I met you earlier, I would have married you.’ I told her, ‘Le ja, pata chalega tereko,'” she laughed.
Sunita went on to express her admiration for Govinda’s on-screen pairings, particularly with Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor. Govinda and Raveena starred together in several hit films, including Dulhe Raja, Aunty No. 1, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Meanwhile, his pairing with Karisma Kapoor in the 90s hits such as Coolie No 1, Raja Babu, and Hero No 1 remains iconic.
